Description
Sound of the Sea is a collective of passionate, community-driven South Coast women who share one mission: to bring the coast back to life. We believe the ocean is more than scenery — it is our identity, our history, and the soul of our community. Our purpose is to restore that magic, uplift families, and create safe, joyful coastal spaces for children and adults alike.
Their Story & Inspiration:
"Sound of the Sea was founded with deep heart and meaning. Our name is inspired by Nino, the late husband of Avril — one of our team’s strongest guiding lights. Nino tragically passed away on Tweni Beach, a place he loved with all his heart. He was a devoted family man who spent countless hours fishing, kayaking, and enjoying the waves. His favourite song, Sound of the Sea, became the heartbeat of our name and our purpose.
Today, we carry his passion and love for the ocean forward. His spirit is the quiet force behind everything we do — reminding us to honour the coastline, embrace community, and cherish every moment by the water.
For years, parts of our coastline have been overlooked — but we see its beauty, its power, and its future. Sound of the Sea is our way of giving back, of restoring life to the beaches, and of creating something meaningful for the next generation. We invite families, supporters, and the entire community to stand with us as we bring new life to our beloved shores. Together, we can rebuild the vibrant, welcoming coastline that the South Coast deserves."
