From Eyesore to Icon:

The Rebirth of Margate's Olympic Pool

Imagine This…

For years, Margate’s Olympic Pool stood still,  a giant reminder of what was, slowly fading into what could have been. But not anymore.

Thanks to the powerhouse partnership between the RNM Municipality, Tidy Towns, and a crew of local legends, the South Coast just witnessed one of its proudest infrastructure comebacks,  and it’s absolutely fantastic. 👏

MARGAT OLYMPIC POOL POOL

đź’Ş Enter: The Mobile Clean-Team

Armed with nothing but tools, grit, and that unmistakable South Coast pride, these unsung heroes went to work. And when they were done? The pool grounds looked the best they have in years. Grass trimmed, pathways cleared, that peaceful park energy restored.

And the pool? It sparkles again 🌊

đźš— Local Legends: Halfway Toyota & Stephen Jones

Civic pride has wheels, and it’s powered by Stephen Jones and the team at Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach. Their support drove this transformation (literally and figuratively), reminding everyone that community wins when business and passion meet.

🏊‍♂️ It’s Open. It’s Clean. It’s Ours Again.

This isn’t just a pool.

It’s a memory maker.

A place where kids learn to swim, where families gather, and where the town breathes a little easier knowing something good got done,  properly.

After years of closed gates and green water, this iconic spot is back to being what it was always meant to be: a source of pride, joy, and summer splashes.

đź’š This is what local love looks like.

Just everyday people showing up to do the work and transform a space into something beautiful for everyone.

The South Coast doesn’t just talk about change.

We rake it. Scrub it. Rebuild it. And then? We swim in it.

They earned it.

IT'S ABOUT BEING (EXTRA)ORDINARY

This isn’t luck. it’s Locals. Building, Backing, Believing.
The South Coast’s glow-up?
not by chance  – by choice.

You know it – we’re just getting started

Why Local?

when you back local, you ignite purpose.
you fund dreams.
you feed families.
you fuel the heartbeat of a town that refuses to be average.

this is sweat, soul, and second chances.
it’s “i’ve got you” in the form of a flat white.
it’s someone’s rent paid because you said “i’ll take two.”

school fees paid because you booked that table.

big brands? they don’t know your name.
but local? local sees you.
local is you.

this isn’t small.
this is everything.

because every swipe here builds something real.
and we’re just getting started.

#thelocalfirstchallenge is more than a simple hashtag, it’s a commitment to our shared future, it’s about recognizing the power we hold in our hands, the ability to shape our community through our everyday choices. Together, we can create a Hibiscus Coast strengthened by dreams, connections, and shared prosperity.

Are you ready to be part of the transformation?
