Return Of The Barter System

Creating Systems that will benefit our community during changin times, offering opportunites for control

We would like to commend our locals who do big things! This goes to Kevin and Donna Krummeck, who own Village Pub and Grill in Margate. They wrote a book called Dundee 2 Dundee, which was released earlier this year and can be purchased on Takealot via: https://www.takealot.com/dundee-2-dundee/PLID72760932

Taking the opportunity to fulfil a lifelong dream of driving through Africa, Kevin Krummeck and Donna Krummeck, married with two children Kyle and Skye and their two granddaughters did it in just three months. Throughout this book, a middle-aged, married couple – one born in Dundee, South Africa, and the other born in Dundee, Scotland – travel across Africa, Asia, and Europe, from Dundee South Africa to Dundee Scotland in their Landrover Defender, which was remodelled for camping. A must-read for anyone with a passion for overlanding or adventure, this is an exciting and riveting chronicle of their adventure and how they dodged some seriously dangerous moments, mostly within Africa.

Traveling between two different Dundees, a globetrotting couple completed the 25,000km journey. The epic road trip took the couple through South Africa, Mozambique, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan and Egypt.

In addition to their voyage from Alexandria to Istanbul, they drove through Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, and England before arriving in Scotland. The couple completed their trip to the City of Discovery after three months on the road.

Additionally, the generous couple used this trip to raise money for South African charity ‘Give a Child a Family’ – and raised a large sum of money along the way. They help children in local orphanages who are either abandoned by their parents or whose parents have died from HIV or AIDS and are facing very bleak futures.

Kevin, who is an ex-military airborne (Parabat) soldier, met Donna, who is a former physical education teacher and ex-banker, when they were teenagers. They have built up the successful Village Pub and Grill in Margate pub/restaurant in Margate, Kwa-Zulu Natal, as well as a few other businesses including VT Coffee Cafe in Margate and the Midland.

The Krummecks spend a lot of their time in Margate, where their son, daughter-n-law and brand-new granddaughter live, and the Midlands where their daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter live. The couple still has more adventures planned, we should watch this space.
