Nestled next to the tranquil Mpanjati Nature Reserve, Trafalgar Beach is a true gem of the South Coast. With its warm, inviting waters, it’s a popular spot for year-round swimming and relaxation. Lifeguards are on duty all year to ensure safety, and its wide, sandy shores make it perfect for sunbathing and unwinding in peace. While facilities are minimal, this adds to the secluded charm, so be sure to bring along anything you need for a day of beach bliss.

Get ready to dive into the KZN South Coast’s biggest brag—our beaches are shining brighter than ever, just in time for summer! This coastal gem has snagged the crown for having the most Blue Flag beaches in KZN, making it the ultimate destination for sunseekers and adventure lovers.

Out of 48 beaches celebrated in a prestigious coastal program, a lucky seven belong to the KZN South Coast. That’s right—we’re practically swimming in world-class shores! And it doesn’t end there. On October 31, 2024, at Cape Town’s iconic V&A Waterfront, this news was announced, giving our tourism a well-deserved boost and adding even more shine to our coastal credentials.

Trafalgar Beach? Oh, it’s been rocking that top-tier status for a jaw-dropping 15 years straight! 

And Marina Beach? It’s celebrating a whopping 21-year winning streak. 

Now, that’s what we call beach royalty.

 The KZN South Coast isn’t just about beautiful beaches,  we’re home to epic tidal pools, two world-famous dive sites (Aliwal Shoal and Protea Banks, anyone?).  

Notably, Heather Clark from Heather Clark Surfing Adventures, who recently earned a second-place finish at the world competition in El Salvador, is a testament to our local talent. 

 

Plus, Additionally, Justin Maisch at Pumula Surf Camp and Surf School, a seasoned professional surfer and experienced instructor with international competition experience, offers comprehensive surfing lessons along with accommodations. His school provides a welcoming and skilled environment for anyone eager to learn from an expert and dive into the surf culture of the KZN South Coast.
