Through The Lens of the Tide

🔥 The Journey of a Wave Chaser Turned Ocean Photographer

Before he was capturing the heartbeat of the ocean through a camera lens, he was riding its pulse himself , carving through waves, chasing swells, and living for the next perfect break. Surfing wasn’t just a sport. It was life. But when a sudden injury pulled the plug on that chapter, everything changed.

“Surfing was everything to me,” he reflects. “Losing that felt like losing a piece of my identity. I had to figure out who I was without it.”
For a while, he found himself on cruise ships, working as an onboard photographer. It kept him connected to the sea, even if just from the deck. Then COVID hit, the cruise ships docked, and life asked him a hard question: Now what? The answer came quietly but powerfully, in the rhythm of the waves. “I realised I didn’t just love surfing, i loved the ocean itself. The way waves move, breathe, explode… I’d always watched them, studied them. It was time to show others what I saw.” With that realisation, his lens turned seaward. What started on the shore quickly evolved ,until he was waist-deep, chest-deep, immersed in the very thing he once rode.
Terence isn't just photographing waves, he's inside them. From beneath curling barrels to the glittering chaos of shorebreak explosions, his photography invites viewers into the raw, intimate theatre of the sea, not as distant admirers, but as participants.
“I shoot from within the water because that’s where the magic is. That’s the perspective I know. I want people to feel the ocean, not just see it.”
Today, his work stands out in a sea of surface-level snapshots. It’s visceral. Immersive. Sometimes peaceful, sometimes wild. Always deeply human.
And maybe that’s the secret, this isn’t just photography, it’s a return, a reconnection. A love story between a man and the ocean that never really ended… it just found a new way to be told.
